SILVER presents a 25 year retrospective of acclaimed wedding photographer Genevieve de Manio.

Designed by Design & Co. and published by Goff Books/ORO editions, this coffee table styled book is 240 pages and features immersive color and black and white images. SILVER includes a foreword by noted art historian Theodore E. Stebbins, Jr. and Gigi’s own story—an intimate recounting of her journey to become a leading wedding photographer shooting in the finest venues both nationally and internationally.

The book is bursting with captured moments that are divided into three sections: Stillness, Connection, and Energy. This narrative approach was developed in collaboration with the author; she views these three themes as a reflection of her approach and career.

The images of the first section, Stillness, capture moments that are not often top-of-mind when one thinks about a wedding, yet a photograph of them prompts a nuanced memory of the cascading emotions of the day. Perhaps because of their subtleness, they are some of the most evocative in the book.

Connection is everywhere one turns on a wedding day. In the images in this section, a connection might be represented by a look, a touch, a shared moment. The image might be crowded with people, but there is an undeniable connection at the center of the chaos.

Exuberance, movement, joy: the images in the last section of SILVER are all about Energy. These images capture the spirit and style of people in motion, and they are almost all candid.

The exquisite design and materials selected for the production of SILVER are a tactile honoring of the extraordinary moment that is the wedding day. The book’s size, 10.25 x 12.5 inches (closed), offers a generous canvas for Gigi’s portfolio. The type is expertly set in Gotham and Mrs. Eaves fonts, and further enhanced by metallic silver spot ink used with a restrained sophistication.

The text pages, four-color printed on 157gsm matte art paper, are hardbound and section sewn into a french blue head and tail band. The case is enveloped by light gray linen textile and silver metallic ink endpaper with silver foil stamping on the face and spine. Wrapping the bottom of the case is a short jacket featuring a full bleed photo. Printed with silver and black ink on an 130gsm vellum paper, the effect is ethereal and akin to the book’s wedding veil.
