Sophomore Packaging Design Course – Midterm Project

A packaging design assignment for a course, for non-commercial use.

This packaging design is titled (Shen). The project is built around the concept of a collision between Eastern culture and contemporary energy drinks, combining the symbolic elements of ginseng and the phoenix to create a visual language that merges traditional imagery with modern energetic expression.

Ginseng serves as the foundation of the design, symbolizing stability, vitality, and the enduring strength emphasized in Eastern wellness culture. The phoenix introduces meanings of ascension, renewal, and breakthrough, representing the uplifting and motivating force associated with energy drinks.

The final presentation of Shen aims to create an innovative beverage that carries both cultural depth and energetic symbolism. The steady essence of ginseng and the dynamic flight of the phoenix are unified visually to convey the will to move forward—whether facing daily challenges or working through late-night efforts—offering viewers an Eastern energy aesthetic that feels both familiar and contemporary.
