Covert is a New Literary Magazine for Black, Asian and Ethnically Diverse Writers and artists of Colour. Created by Writing Our Legacy in associated with New Writing South, Covert both seeks to provide a platform for talented creatives whilst also providing mentorship via their editorial team and monthly guest editors. The magazine was created as part of Writing Our Legacy’s Covid-19 response literary programme New Narratives: We Need to Change the Stories We’re Telling. The Sussex-based arts organisation plans to produce subsequent editions of the magazine in 2021 and beyond, as part of its commitment to supporting the development and profiling of writers and artists of colour. Adventure Stories worked closely with Writing Our Legacy to create both a striking visual identity and design scheme for Covert. Simple and bold, the design serves to hero the work inside, providing a spacious canvas, offset with subtle typographic detailing.
