Outsourced work is often precarious work and is also invisible work. The Swiss street magazine SURPRISE NGO dedicated the 8-part series 'The Invisibles' to this labor sector and the people who work in it - with reports about the cleaners, care workers, nannies, sewage plant workers, logistics workers, gig workers, service workers, and harvest workers. viz. bybraem accompanied the series through all episodes in 2022 with an infographic concept. The working conditions of 'The Invisibles' are often in the gray area of illegality or social visibility and thus often in the gray area of data. viz. bybraem supplemented the dossier in each issue with an infographic page and developed both: the content factual, as well as the design concept to give the invisible an infographic stage from the headline to working models of precarious workers – always in consultation with the editorial team. The background color was always adapted to the imagery in the overall section. The illustrations emphasize the anonymous human in the field of tension and composition between employees, consumers, and employers. Numbers from the background are included as cornerstones and context to highlight the problematic field. Layers and blurs sharpen the view of the dynamics of our society and economy, which are often not black and white but are interdependent in complex interactions and developments. In this way, interrelationships are brought to the surface in portions that open up classification and stimulation for further thought.
