Monson, Maine is a nature lover’s paradise on the edge of Maine’s untamed North Woods. The center of town is tucked along the shores of Lake Hebron and Russell Mountain, used as inspiration for the new logo and color palette.
With roughly 700 year-round residents, Monson is a welcoming and creative community with a vibrant food and art scene, endless outdoor recreation activities, and year-round community events. The town is an important stop for many Appalachian Trail hikers—between Monson and the summit of Mount Katahdin is the 100 Mile Wilderness—the most remote stretch of the AT. It’s also the only place in the world with black slate. Monson’s vibrant arts and crafts tradition carries into the present day as the town is known for fine slate and furniture products worldwide.
