To this day, the art depicted on WWII “bomber jackets” continues to fascinate, educate, and entertain. Painted on the back of leather A-2 work jackets, these artifacts depict the attitudes of young airmen subjected to the vagaries of warfare in the sky. For the ﬁrst time, these military mementos have been photographed in extreme detail and restored to their original, colorful glory. Complete with contemporary research, audio and video interviews, and recent veteran portraits, this book offers a glimpse into this seldom seen genre of military folk art and the stories they tell, capturing them to educate generations to come.
