ThoughtSpot utilizes AI to suggest study locations based on user descriptions of their study tasks, while also considering their previous location selections and general study habits. Opening the app offers essential information about study spots, including sensory criteria, hours of operation, Wifi-Access, and real-time capacity. Additionally, it facilitates connections with other users who are actively studying at those locations. Backed by user testimonials, our holistic approach aims to reduce the need for multiple apps, minimizing distractions and fostering loyalty to the service.
Once a study session begins, a minimalistic timer encourages students to stay focused by requiring them to stop the session in order to exit the screen. ThoughtSpot also tracks the amount of time spent studying, and logs the locations, enabling students to gain awareness of their habits and visualize their progress. After completing a session, or exiting the screen, users have the option to review the study space, ensuring the information stays accurate and up to date.
After wireframing, prototyping and user testing, we realized our initial UI and information architecture contained too many elements so we refined the user interface and simplified the screens, focusing on providing a streamlined and intuitive experience.
Our study application, ThoughtSpot, will help people waste less time and resources needed to initiate tasks. By providing insightful information, resources, and progress tracking the app enhances feelings of competence and emotional well-being. Empowering people to reach their potential on their own terms fosters genuine collaboration and skill sharing in academic environments.
