Description
Symbionics is an AI-powered smart prosthetic system, focused on learning the natural movement and environments of the user to create intuitive personalized movement for the user and be adaptable to any environment or object the user may come into contact with, without pre-programmed actions. The system works in three parts, the first being the smart glove uses a gyroscope, ultrasound, motion tracking, and AI object recognition to learn about user's movements and how they associate with the objects they interact with. The prosthetic hand gathers this data and using object recognition and gyroscope sensors the prosthetic arm associates that data and the gathered from the smart glove to determine intuitive action and movement creating a symbiotic relationship with the user. The UI system allows for better feedback and control of the arm through monitoring and control of necessary functions like battery level and Bluetooth as well as personal privacy functions of toggling the camera on and off. The app informs the user about their new arm and walks them through the onboarding process including calibration, and opening exercises, and helps the user become comfortable with the product. Furthermore, the UI encourages the user through their journey by walking them through a wide range of activities and exercises to grow together as well as track the progress of the user. If the user needs help, the app helps facilitate a connection to a prosthetist or physical therapist. As the users grow they can share that growth with others by sharing their arm skills data across the network of users making the arm more adaptable to more environments, interactions, and objects.
