Increasingly intolerable summers and unbearably intense heat are the realities we have collectively created. Last year ranked among the hottest in human history. As UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres starkly put it we have entered an era of global boiling our planet has moved well beyond the warming stage. Heat is invisible and silent yet in many parts of the world it is deadly.

India an emerging economic powerhouse faces the looming threat of heat waves surpassing the human survivability limit. Yet millions of informal workers construction laborers street vendors and flower sellers continue to toil in life threatening temperatures paving the path for the country’s development with their sweat and resilience.

At www.alliserona.com we present Sweat and Concrete The Urban Heat of Inequality the story of an informal worker a flower seller navigating the scorching streets of Bengaluru to earn a livelihood. From heat related health risks to financial burdens worsened by warming winters rising temperatures are reshaping the social fabric of our cities. This project sheds light on the experiences of the most vulnerable urban communities those who bear the brunt of climate change first and most severely.

Sweat and Concrete is an immersive audiovisual reading experience that delves into the intricate interplay between climate change urban development and social inequities. More than just a story it is a call to action an effort to harness our collective wisdom in shaping climate solutions.

The article gained widespread attention across digital and social media platforms including The Guardian and The Migration Story Nivarana. It was also featured by local organizations CSOs NGOs and think tanks and was showcased at a Dasra event as an example of powerful evocative climate communication.

The project was recognized at the Indigo Awards for its compelling storytelling and impact driven approach to climate awareness.
