Peppermania 2024 is a fictional event where 25 peppers battle in a March Madness—style bracket to determine the strongest contender. At Peppermania, peppers fight and evolve, a metaphor for the human condition. The hotter the pepper, the greater the ordeal. The battle isn't a means to an end—it is the meaning. There is no deeper metaphor beyond the struggle itself. Spice, at its core, is merely a pain response, yet we seek it out, savor it, even revere it. This paradox mirrors the human condition: our pursuit of intensity, of struggle—whether through spice, sport, or life itself—is not a path to something greater, but a fundamental part of our existence. Peppermania is not about peppers; it is about the beauty of endurance, the thrill of competition, and the absurdity of "embracing the heat."

I created branding for the event, which includes posters, tickets, pamphlets, trading cards, hot sauces, and a documentation book. The book serves as both an archive of the Peppermania 2024 brand identity, as well as a chronicle of the matchups that unfold through the competition. The hot sauces are birthed from the blood of the fallen peppers, extending the metaphor beyond the fights themselves.
