We often re-live a significant amount of our memories through photos and videos. Often groups of travelers, adventurers, and explorers take extra documentation tools, like cameras and sketchbooks, along their journeys to capture these memories. Targeting that behavior, Muse exists to travel with you and your group of friends on your adventures to record moments you’d never want to forget.

Muse sparks users’ memories through a song made of snippets of a recorded session. Through user testing we learned that using only audio encourages the user’s imagination to bring back the details of the moment. While images and videos can bring back compelling memories, audio of the event sparks the memory and allows the user to re-experience the moment they captured. Like a plot summary of a book you’ve read, Muse’s songs give users highlights of an experience that they can use to remember the moments that mattered to them.

Muse is an AI assistant that takes snippets from your recorded audio and combines it with an ambient soundscape to create a personalized song for you. You begin a recording by setting a timer using the twistable top - denoted with the built-in light indicator. The display on top of the product communicates how long a session has been in progress and has a gallery that users can browse through to play back songs from other sessions. If one timer’s length isn’t enough to contain a trip or experience, adding recordings to that trip is easy by simply twisting the top again. To finish a trip and receive a Muse song, the user presses the top of the product down and holds it. If the user wishes to edit or share a recording, they can use the companion app.
